![]() Written by Matthew Cannata | Twitter: @PhinManiacs Wide receiver Damian Williams was with the Miami Dolphins during training camp and the preseason but due to a numbers game at the receiver position, he was released during the final round of cuts. Now, he’s back with the team but his role hasn’t been clearly defined. However, Joe Philbin hinted that he may be getting some work on special teams in the return game. “We just got him in here late yesterday, so we’ll get him back on the practice field, see where he is and see how he fits in. He’s a guy we liked. He was a guy we liked when he was on the ball club, so now we’ll see how he fits in. He’s definitely going to be involved in returning punts. How active that is when we get to a game? I don’t know, but, in practice, I know he will be, for sure.” Jarvis Landry has been the primary returner for the Dolphins on both kickoffs and punts but has struggled with catching the ball cleanly and has made a few mental mistakes catching a punt deep near the end zone when he could’ve let it go in for a touchback. We’ll see if Williams does enough to take over Landry’s role on special teams. Comments are closed.
