![]() Written by Matthew Cannata | Twitter: @PhinManiacs No one could have predicted a week ago that the Miami Dolphins would be tied for first place in the AFC East. In fact, there was already talk about firing Joe Philbin and others prior to the Oakland Raiders game. What a difference one week makes though! With the Dolphins in this position, Ryan Tannehill is excited and confident heading into the bye week but admits he wishes they were playing on Sunday. “I think getting back to .500 was huge for us. Obviously, we didn’t play well the two previous weeks I think as a team, not just offensively. To play well and to have some momentum, some confidence going into the bye week and this big stretch we have coming up. It was a big weekend for us. When you build some momentum like that to be able to go out and build off of it immediately is nice. But I think we can still do that with the break in between.” Tannehill said he only watched part of the Patriots game because he was tired after the trip but said that it’s still too early in the season to be making any conclusions. “I watched some of it in the first half. I was a little tired after the trip, so I went to bed early. It’s early in the season. Obviously, when we came into this year, we knew it was going to be a tight race. It always is and, to be able to be in it at this point, there’s a lot of football left. We have to go in and play every week, so it’s a little early to start jumping to any conclusions or reading into anything. There’s a lot of football left.” With the other teams in the division – New England Patriots, New York Jets and Buffalo Bills – all struggling, this is the perfect time for the Dolphins to put their foot down and grab a hold of the division and run away with the division title.
