When Branden Albert came to Miami as a free agent in the offseason, some had questioned the move because of the perception that Albert always seems to be injured at one time or another during the NFL season. More specifically, he has been battling back and knee injuries over the past several years but two weeks into the season, there are no signs of those injuries coming back. Earlier this week, Albert spoke out on this perception and tried to put a few things to rest.
“I play a rugged sport. I’m a rugged person, stuff happens. I don’t think people understand that about me. I think people think I’m just injury prone. I’m a rugged player, I get down and dirty. And sometimes things happen and I get hurt. But for the most part, it’s only one season where I kind of missed a significant amount of games. And that’s when I hurt my back. Otherwise, besides that, I never really got hurt. I haven’t missed more than five games in my career in a season. And I think people were trying to down play me for whatever reason. That’s all over with. Like I said, I’m in a good position where I’m at with the Dolphins. And I’m just trying to keep this train going down here. And you know what? I wish everybody in the Chiefs organization the best of luck. But you know I’m here with the Dolphins and I’m here to work for these guys.”
Sometimes, a change of scenery is all that one needs. They become much better physically and mentally and it could have a carry over effect into other parts of their lives. Albert believes that has happened to him and he also believes that where he lives now is where he'll live the rest of his life.
“A young man come down to South Florida in the offseason, why not? You know, working out, enjoying myself, enjoying the weather and you know, that’s why. But now, since I’ve been living here and getting to know the outskirts of Florida, not just downtown, South Beach, being in Broward County, it’s a lot of families, family-oriented places around here. Where I work at, Broward, Weston it’s a lot of nice places. A lot of people retire here. And I found a home where I think I’ll live here for the rest of my life.”
