Jeff Darlington of the NFL Network will be at Sun Life Stadium today reporting on the Dolphins and their scrimmage. This morning, he did a live report on television and dropped a few interesting tidbits.

Among the most interesting was that he's been told the Dolphins will wait until after the first preseason game on August 8 to decide whether or not to go outside the organization to find a center. If they feel Nate Garner or anyone else they insert as center can't get the job done, they will sign a free agent or trade for someone. The practices leading up to August 8 and the game itself will be the basis for that determination.

In addition, he spoke to general manager Dennis Hickey and was told by him that their best offseason acquisition wasn't a player - it was offensive coordinator Bill Lazor. Hickey and the coaching staff are very excited about the up-tempo offense that Lazor is installing here in Miami and thinks that it will throw a lot of people off guard when they open the season.

Finally, Darlington said that Lamar Miller is looking great so far in camp and the starting job is his to lose. With Knowshon Moreno out for several more weeks, Miller has taken a firm hold on the job and doesn't plan to let go anytime soon.
