Multiple players were held out of practice this morning and it was announced that they would miss several more with various injuries. In addition, they are in danger of missing Friday's preseason opener against the Atlanta Falcons.
Tight ends Michael Egnew (concussion), Gator Hoskins (hamstring), running back Daniel Thomas (hamstring) and defensive end Olivier Vernon (back) are all out multiple practices. This is in addition to Charles Clay and Pat Devlin, who are out with knee and hamstring injuries, respectively. Caleb Sturgis, who was held out over the weekend with a groin injury, returned to practice today.
Injuries are a part of the NFL but a tough break for those such as Egnew, Hoskins and Thomas who are on the bubble and fighting for a spot on the final 53-man roster. Time will tell how long they are out but it is of course in their best interest to get back on the field as soon as possible.
