A few days after including Greg Camarillo’s overtime touchdown catch as a top three moment in Miami Dolphins history, ESPN has released the results of their poll and the fans have spoken!
The top moment in history according to the fans is Dan Marino’s fake spike in 1994 against the New York Jets. Almost 80% of the voters chose this play. About 5% of the voters chose the Camarillo catch as the top moment.
As Marino was running up to the line of scrimmage towards the end of the game, he repeatedly was yelling “Clock! Clock!” Seconds later, he was dropping back to pass and threw a back-shoulder pass to wide receiver Mark Ingram for the game winning touchdown. The Dolphins won that game despite being down 17-0 in the third quarter.
The other play in consideration was Don Strock’s pass to Duriel Harris who lateraled it to Tony Nathan for a touchdown in the 1981 divisional playoff game. That received 16% of the vote.
